Conclusion — the doing matters

It is not clear how this changes. This is not a fully thought out plan or proposal, it is just a collection of ideas (many of which are other people’s) which are articulated together.

To understand how this kind of power is practiced so much of it comes through doing, creating and trying. So where you are thinking about a project or planning a policy think about:

  1. Am I creating spaces for people to organise?
  2. Is there transparency around my decisions? Am I giving people the knowledge they need to challenge them?
  3. Are the people involved or using this project or system creating it with me?
  4. Am I building a capacity for my system or project to change as things evolve?
  5. Are people equally able to participate in my project? How am I building people’s capacity to participate equally? How can people accept their differences?
  6. Am I letting go of control and allowing people to have power?
